My guess is a lot of migrators subbed here but since F1โ€™s community on reddit is already so large and established and also now reopened due to spez, they tend to still look there with the consistency of posts. Apart from formuladank, the sub to post ratio of F1 subreddit is quite low Iโ€™d say.

What are themes/stories to watch this weekend?

  • Who wins this weekend, and why is it Verstappen?
  • Can Ferrari step around their own dick long enough to challenge Mercedes?
  • Have Mercedes actually had a breakthrough that can keep them up with Aston Martin? Is George having a crisis of confidence or can he get back up and/or next to Lewis this weekend?
  • Does Gasly make it through the weekend without an unforced error, and if so, how badly does he need to outperform Ocon?

That's all I got off the top of my head. Discuss.

My thoughtsโ€ฆ

Ferrari seem to think they are going in the right direction: BBC Report

Iโ€™m not sure I agree.

Mercedes will see steady improvements but it will take time. I think I read that the next big upgrade is due for the GB race.

George is struggling a little under the weight of being Lewisโ€™ teammate. He will get through it though. Heโ€™s too good not to.

Gladly needs a result after all of the ill-feeling between the drivers. I canโ€™t see it happening though.

No, I agree that Verstappen is probably going to win, the RBR19 is incredible in his hands.

Ferrari got it right in Canada, just seem to have dropped behind Mercedes, or they should have been behind if Mercedes showed up on R01 day with their current concept.

I see Mercedes steadily improving, trading places with Aston. If they are lucky theyโ€™ll win a race, but at least they have a platform that behaves as expected on which they now can build (2024 is going to be the year aka next yearTM)

George will bounce back, or maybe Lewis started showing up again now that the car seems to have some potential and George just got a reality check. Time will tell, but I think heโ€™ll bounce back.

Gasly,โ€ฆ give him time to acclimatize to the beast that is called Alpine. Or Watch Alpine ruin another potentially good driver.

My understanding is that the car is more predictable under breaking now. So Lewis must finally be comfortable to push the limits

Also wonder if Lewis stopped running test setups for car dev. like he did before allowing him to perform better, esp. on race days.

[โ€“] R05 1 points 2 years ago

Iโ€™m thinking on the same line, the no pods concept was not behaving per simulations so they ran very experimental setups. If the correlation now is there he can focus on pushing the car.

Or weโ€™ve seen it in the past, where Hamilton. Suddenly switches it on and leaves his competition in the dust. Iโ€™ve only seen Verstappen and Alonso keeping up when he does that, one of them is in superior machinery and the other is in more or less equal.

We need the Ferrari guy in here for a recap before this weekend. I need a refresher.

Preparing myself and some popcorn on how Ferrari will bungle the strategy.

It is a sprint-weekend, which is not Red Bulls strongest point. Max will still win most probably, but you never know.

The buzz will come as we close in!
