Welcome!

And !Germany is actually meant to be English speaking, so improper German really doesn't matter ;-)

https://feddit.de/c/dach (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and https://feddit.de/c/deutschland (Germany only) are the German speaking communities. There is also https://feddit.de/c/deutsch_lernen (but not very active just yet).

Oh I see, I actually just subbed to deutsch_lernen too, It just happens that I made an account in feddit.de instance a few days a go and wanted to post something and sort of introduce myself on this instance, thanks for the welcome, Ill make sure to post on the lernen community! tschuss!

I think the more communities you subscribe to, the better - especially in the early days of Lemmy/feddit where it's not super active, it helps to maximize your exposure, where language learning is the goal. Just be aware that some communities such as ich_irl use improper German as their "thing", so it might be detrimental to your goal.

yeah, I subbed on a bunch and will def be weary of the ich_irl one, they made reddit front page regularly lol. crazy to catch up here, great little community on the go! cheers

I think as long as you can recognize at least part of the Zangendeutsch, then it's fine. Any comprehensible input is good!

I always think of this xkcd when the subject comes up: https://xkcd.com/1414/
