* Matrix is an open source and potentially distributed chat protocol. The matrix room listed is hosted on matrix.org, a somewhat centralized hub for a lot of currently public rooms. Though the protocol itself is free, libre and open source, the deployment of the protocol resembles a centralized service. This may be fixed in the future with the deployment of independent servers.

I moved into a house in Carleton Place this past summer. The way the system here works is: the first bag is free, every addition bag requires a sticker (3$ each). Otherwise you pay to unload garbage at a local waste facility. Most people here buy extra large bags to combine everything as much as possible. With the amount of packing material I had laying around after furnishing my place, the sticker/dumping costs were not insignificant.

I remember when that rolled out too...the outrage people had was crazy, and a week later it was normal and nobody cared.

Not really sure how to feel about this one. On one hand I get how much it'll suck to be limited on how much garbage I can put out, but on the other it doesn't seem like we'll have a viable replacement for the Trail Road facility soon enough (assuming the counselors make a decision to start replacing it).

It sorta feels like the councilors unwilling to compromise are just trying to push the problem down the road.
