The Columbus subreddit was one of the few things I would have missed from Reddit. I would be happy to see this one get active

Thoughts and questions about Columbus, Ohio
Sync for Lemmy is out and I'm back in business!
Honestly if we can get this community going and avoid falling back into the BK on fifth, pallet guy, big rus memes over and over again I kind of look forward to starting from scratch. Maybe we can get more original content.
How else am I going to be against the man and also get my accurate weather reporting? Need to get zebrasrlyingtoyou over here!
Is Zebra not on Lemmy? Gonna feel a little drafty around here if not...
I'm giving it a shot!
Though right now, I must admit I still haven't wrapped my head around the federates concepts.
The easiest way to explain it is there's a bunch of websites all using the same api, you can see all the communities from all the websites with any of the websites, and you can subscribe to the ones you want. This one is hosted at lemmy.world but you could read and subscribe to it over at lemmy.ml if you wanted to.
If you want world news you can subscribe to any communities from the federation. Or all of them.
I love the columbus reddit. Hoping we can make an even better spot here!
I'm an Ohio native who moved to Indianapolis in 2016 but I'm moving back to Columbus in a couple months.

Sorry I’m late sarge - now present and accounted for
Just found this community, glad to see even the local subs making the transition over. I missed my regular updates on BK at fifth and all the worst intersections in and around the city (Broad & Lancaster on the east side is my vote… or just Broad st in general).
If you guys want a good app and you're on Android, check out Liftoff, currently in early access: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.liftoffapp.liftoff&pli=1
It's been the best way to use it on mobile that I've found so far. I come from baconreader on Reddit. While it's no replacement it's very functional so far.
I'll admit that r/columbus (especially Zebra's posts) are about the only thing I miss from reddit.
