Post idea completely stolen from weekly “what are you playing Wednesday” posts from several gaming subreddits. Don’t want to flood the sub, but do want to at least signal that there’s at least one active user here!

When this magazine was pretty much dead, I made a post asking people to comment and @ me if they found the magazine and wanted to be active. That way I could get the best of both worlds by not flooding this magazine with tons of no-engagement posts, but also still be alerted if someone wanted to interact.

I later realized that if nobody on your instance subscribed to this magazine before I made that post, you wouldn’t be able to see it unless you looked on m/otomegame’s instance, kbin.social. Just by first appearances, it would seem totally dead and abandoned, and people would click away. So I guess weekly posts it is for a stream of new content to signal at least one person is active and checking here.

Started Blooming Panic and finished Quest's good route. I loved the vibe of it, reminds me of Mystic Messenger. I can't wait to try xyx's route.

Also stated Enomoto s route in Collar x Malice. Feels like such a 180 after completing Sasazuka's route haha

Oh, Blooming Panic! I looked it up because it sounded familiar and I found it’s on my giant itch.io backlog. You’ve kicked it up a couple spots on my list of what to play next. Curious on what part of the vibe reminds you of Mystic Messenger. They both have you interacting with the game through a faux social media, but the vibes I’m getting off the color schemes of the two games are pretty different.

I also didn’t experience Mystic Messenger “properly”—I started right as Cheritz did a giveaway of what was either stamina or premium currency as an apology for something. Maybe it was an apology for horrible glitches? I forget. So instead of waiting all the time for calls and wrecking my sleep schedule, I binged through the Jumin route and deleted the app after I got Jumin’s good end :P So the vibes I got from that game might not be the vibes most people get.

Blooming Panic and MysMe both have a chatroom as a setting. Blooming Panic is a shorter game BUUUT it's completely free, it's not a mobile game so it doesn't need energy or coins to unlock chats, and it has a skip system if you like replaying to get all the ends. MysMe has a more fleshed out story, it's got more content, and it has more romance options (and 707 my ultimate otome bias lol). I don't want to give too much of the story away, but Blooming Panic can have it's dark moments although not as dark as MysMe imo

Jumins bad end is definitely one of my fave ends if you pick it up again, but it's not for the faint hearted :'D

I either looked that one up or got it myself. Forget which, it was awhile ago. All I can say about it without spoilers is that the ribbon looks really high-quality :P Not sure how I felt about that at the time, but I didn’t dislike it.

Thank you for the comparison and the recommendation!

Still Tears of Themis. Vyn's birthday just happened. The event was adorable and much more suggestive than I expected now that we're in year 3 and engaged.

Genshin's update this week came with a nice new husbando to gacha for, so even though that's not a romance game, I still appreciate it.

Perpetually on the to-do list: Finish Collar x Malice fandisk

I’ve been taking a break from long otome because I don’t have much time at the moment, so instead I’ve been playing the short indie titles in my itch.io backlog. I most recently got to Villainess Idolized By Everyone.

The art isn’t really my style but I gave it a chance because it was a “reincarnated as villainess” story. I ended up bouncing off of it hard, when I’m usually all for these kinds of stories, including the ones that other genre fans think are poorly written. I just could not get into any of the text it was putting down and ended up skimming a good deal of it, especially when the guys were talking. I don’t know nearly enough about writing to tell if this was just a “not to your taste” thing or if there were actually issues with the writing. I can tell you it has 4 stars on Itch after 20 ratings.
