A large part of me thinks this is just to keep them in the news because ricciardo gets clicks

It's certainty an advantage of having Ricciardo there but they do need to keep an eye on Perez' possible replacements too.

Red Bull have to assume that another constructer will catch up enough next year that they won't be able to get away with Perez finishing ~5th in the drivers championship.

If Ricciardo shows that he could better Perez' results then they kinda need to think about making that switch.

It must be stressed that both Helmut Marko and Christian Horner have dismissed suggestions that Perez will be replaced, so no change is imminent at Red Bull.

Yup, nothing to see here.

I think at this point the most likely scenario in this regard is that if Daniel seems up to what they’re looking for pace-wise in the tests he’s doing, they’ll look to slot him into Alpha Tauri next year with a view to having him firmly on deck if they wind up needing to make a change with Perez. Checo has definitely been underwhelming this year, but I think it’s only if he’s still underperforming next year that he faces the prospect of anything drastic. And on a similar line, De Vries seems like he’ll probably see out this year, but if things don’t improve for him then he’s who I’d expect to be moved aside for 2024 should they want to give Daniel a race seat.

To replace DEV presumably?

I feel for DEV. He's has a tough time in his first full year, in a car that's barely capable of scoring points. Part of me thinks DRIC would be a really great mentor for Yuki.

This would be weird having Riccardo in the AT seat, seeing as he was the last teammate who could compete with Verstappen, but it probably makes sense.

not that weird, he hasn't been nearly as good the last few years.

I could see Yuki replacing Perez next year and DR being slotted into Alpha Tauri.

Perez is about as good as he was last year, isn't he? He's always been overrated imo. He needs to be replaced if he loses second this year to anyone.

He has occasional streaks of brilliance. But he can't keep up with the Max/Lewis/Fernandos of the world.

i know its not gonna happen but i really wish they would give alex albon another chance. i think he really matured and could possibly be amazing in the current car.

I think this is Perez last year, and they'll give Ric a shot next year.
