All things green, outdoors, and nature-y. Whether it's animals in their natural habitat, hiking trails and mountains, or planting a little garden for yourself (and everything in between), you can talk about it here.

See also our Environment community, which is focused on weather, climate, climate change, and stuff like that.

(It's not mandatory, but we also encourage providing a description of your image(s) for accessibility purposes! See here for a more detailed explanation and advice on how best to do this.)

I don’t remember the name of these plants, but I’m betting you people can identify no problem. They were both bought at the same time but one of them is dying. It was initially on the other side of the door. They thought maybe the sun was killing it and moved it to the shade, but it doesn’t seem to me improving. Is it gone? Can it be brought back? Please advise.

Please note I'm not a horticulturist! That plant (at least the one in good condition) looks like an Impatiens to me. According to https://www.thespruce.com/shade-tolerant-impatiens-flowers-2132141 you need partial/full shade. That wilt does look like sun damage to me, so that's my guess. It also needs well-drained soil, so maybe also check how it's been watered recently.

Thank you! That makes total sense. I'll let them know. On a different note, reddit is(was?) my go to spot for stuff like this where I need advice on something I don't know much about. I made this post here instead of reddit, and wanted to see if the fediverse is truly a reddit replacement. I'm glad to see that it already is.

Does it get any sun at all?

It used to get a lot more sunlight on the other side of the door, but I don't know if it gets much direct sunlight now, because it sits behind the one with the flag. Does it need direct sunlight?

Yes, nearly all plants need at least a little. Flowers definitely do.
