This is fine honestly. It could be so much worse.

Sucks, but at least you can remove them

True. Unfortunately I'm paranoid enough to have to create network captures until I believe it's actually off. And even then... I'm unable to prove it doesnt send off a package of data after a certain amount of time.

as sucky as it is, if we want Mozilla and Firefox to survive, we have to support them somehow, and this is one way to do it.

I've been seeing this on Firefox on the desktop for some time now in the form of a sponsored Amazon link on new tabs. It sucks and I wish they could promote something better than such an evil corporation, but I don't begrudge them too much as I know they have to make a buck somewhere. I know I've never donated to Mozilla.

I just made a donation after reading this.

Development costs money 🤷 tbh I felt bad disabling it until I made a small donation myself

I get your point and I agree to an extend. However I disagree with any kind of tracking or analysis of user data. I'd rather pay money for software - no subscription. I'm ok paying for updates or upgrades now and then.

I'm also happy to donate (and did) but I'm also mad and paranoid enough to doubt such button actually turns this feature off.

Ya it sucks but as long as you can turn it off I can live with it. I wonder how much money they get from these?

This sort of thing never looks good, but you can at least disable it. Annoyed me when I first saw it, but it was soon history.

Hasn’t it already been like this for a while? I remember Amazon and something else one day suddenly popped in mine.

On Linux the distributors place custom shortcuts pretty much all the time to point to documentation or promote their own services, so I'm already used to remove BS bookmarks I don't want. No change there, IMO.
