Poland, Slovakia and Hungary announced their own restrictions on Ukrainian grain imports on Friday after the European Commission decided not to extend its ban on imports into Ukraine's five EU neighbours.

That’s a somewhat misleading headline ( and genuinely baffling to this westerner). Those countries are still allowing transport of Ukrainian grain through their countries, they are only limiting the direct sale of Ukrainian grain to end users surging the countries protect their local farmers from massive price collapses due to oversupply.

...or in other words they ban Ukrainian grain from being sold because they can't trust their own regulations that should restrict grain to be used in most application anyway (as it's also a lot cheaper because it's not produced to EU minimum standards).
