I have no respect for former military that drag the military into political spotlights.
What I always valued was that a soldier should avoid politics as much as possible publicly because the military is a public service and you will always alienate one group or another. When you alienate any group you erode the trust the public has in the military and that is a disservice to Canadian public.
We were always taught to stay the hell out of political bullshit publicly. Your cause is not the CAF cause and anyone that can't understand that will always be viewed as a waste of space in my books.
To stand in front of any group and act like you determine what is or isn't the CAF as a whole is arrogant assholery.
Let the politicians and the public determine the direction of the CAF. Your job as a soldier is serve the public. If you can't serve, get out of the way.
