Am I missing something? There's no arbitrage trading opportunities as far as I can tell so what cargo are you supposed to be hauling? Piles of looted succulents and notepads?

(Serious question! I like space trading games but I don't see that as a thing and I really am curious if I'm missing something.)

Aren't there cargo hauling missions on the mission boards at various cities?

Thanks, I hadn't noticed these.

Yep! AND you need to have the cargo space to actually haul the object! I had a 3300kg probe or something. But no ship with large enough space yet! So it sits on my board, undoable.

I just got a delivery mission that wants me to collect 5,000 argon. That'd take like 25 trips in my current ship.

Just hold the 5000 argon in your inventory. I think I was walking around at 70,000/185 for a while...

Just have to load it all into the ship, talk to the person and rinse repeat that small loop

That's what I've been doing.

But dropping the argon inside your ship might also count as cargo. Decor items like weight-plates, dumbbell etc uses up cargo space. Will try it once my Aluminum storage is full again.

Yeah as others have said there are missions to haul stuff from A to B. Also, it's nice to have a bunch of space for all the resources that I usually collect. At this point I have about 10 times the total carry weight in my cargo space.

I use it to stock pile ressources (for crafting things, upgrading equipment...) until I onload in my outpost containers. They are heavy.

Your ship can only hold so much stuff. If you plan on utilizing resources for building, you might want to invest in a ship with very little hab and storage containers all over. I'm struggling to have things on hand with 3000 cargo space. 😩
