The recognition of Transgender History Month is meant to “create a culture led by research, education, and scholarly recognition of the contributions of transgender Californians,” according to the text of the resolution, which was sponsored by Assemblyman Matt Haney, D-San Francisco.

Ok. I'm gay and I admit I'm older but - do we really need a "transgender history month?" I mean just when did all those pioneer transgenders arrive in this country, what month was it again? It seems like it was pretty recent actually. On the other hand, with so much anti-trans rhetoric and hatred out there, I like the idea of make trans people more celebrated and visible. Anything that gets under the GOP's thin skin.

I'm just waiting for "stereotypical looking gay white male Village People look alike month." THEN I'll be passing out the blow ticklers and bubble gum, believe me.
