When I attempt to add my kbin.social account to Memmy, I get this error. Is this because kbin is different software compared to lemmy or is it a different issue?
Kbin is different software. You won’t currently be able to use kbin credentials in Memmy.
Yes. The APIs are different, you will need to use lemmy and subscribe to kbin magazines that way. There are other apps in development that support kbin directly, not sure if it’s on the roadmap for Memmy.
The Mlem devs said that Kbin uses a different auth/API so they couldn’t support it. Probably the case here as well.
Yea, my understanding is that Lemmy and Kbin are compatible only in the sense that they both use ActivityPub, e.g., can talk to each other server-to-server; but the API they provide to clients is unrelated.
