As someone on a low sodium diet for non-heart health issues, my blood pressure dropped about 20 points when I made the switch.

Also, this study only analyzed adding salt to a meal at the table. It's good to know that even cutting down on that amount of salt can have health benefits, but sodium is sneaky. A handful of tortilla chips has 90mg sodium. A slice of bread has 150mg. Two tablespoons of salsa has 200mg. You have to be careful, it's not always where you expect.

Edit: Oh, the other thing I wanted to mention. There is no such thing as a "salt free" diet. You need sodium for brain function and will die if you somehow manage to consume none for long enough. I get terrible brain fog if I skip breakfast now.
