Is this an appropriate place to post physical terrain I've built? I don't see a better suited community and would love to contribute :)

You are welcome to post terrain at [email protected] as well (as long as it is miniature and not full size)

Thanks for letting me know about your community! I make scale terrain to place D&D minis on- that'd be cool to post on tabletopminis?

Good to know! Thanks for making me aware of your community!

Ya know didn't think about it, but yea I think it would. /c/battlemaps it's more for completed maps but ones that users could download and use themselves, so posting physical maps to /c/MapMaking i think would be perfectly fine

I didn't realize this pinned post was about c/MapMaking and not c/battlemaps, not sure how I missed that. Good to know, and thanks for the reply! Do you mod both subs? Mods aren't visible from the jerboa app like I'm used to with reddit

[–] TheAmishMan 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yea I mod both, i swear there was a way on jerboa to see it. I use liftoff primarily right now as its interface is a lot more like RiF, which i think lists mods in the side bar.

Both communities are very new and growing, trying to add more content and such, while still learning how Fediverse works+real life stuff

Gotcha, thanks for the work you're doing! I look forward to sharing terrain stuff I'm making :)

Would love to see how you do it too! I have a hotwire I got a while back that i still haven't had a chance to use. Been following Black Magic Crafts for a while, always loved his work. I enjoy printing and painting miniatures, and terrain and buildings seem really really fun.

In all honesty though, it's been ~2 years since i did an in person have, almost everything I do is online. But I really love miniatures, terrain, maps, etc for in person

I'm pretty new to it but grew up loving crafts and have been an art nerd my entire life so I've really enjoyed it. I didn't take any progress pics for the last one I made- a crystal cavern, but I'm hoping I'll remember them for the future. I'll be sure to share my thoughts on my process!

And yeah that makes sense, I haven't played at all for quite a while now (I like playing, but I'm not great at roleplay so I find it a bit fatiguing), but the last campaign I was in was in was online. The terrain I'm making right now is big set piece stuff for a friend's campaign and I've really enjoyed getting to be a part of their storytelling process.

I definitely reccomend trying it if you get the chance, I've had a blast. Its honestly been a wonderful creative outlet, and a nice excuse to work on something with my hands. djsb

I have a 10 month old, so the hope is one day to be able to share the hobby with him, either from making things for us to play together with, or to make things together

Aw, that sounds lovely! My first experience with D&D was joining my brother playing open games at a local game store and there was always a guy who had his kid with him- the kid was better than most of the adults we played with and it always makes me smile to look back on them having bonding time together ❤️
