At a news conference Tuesday, Ford said the re-evaluation will be part of a wider review of all Greenbelt lands and development applications. The previous Liberal government mandated in 2005 that Greenbelt lands be reviewed at least every 10 years.
This prompts a lot of questions, mostly in relation to timelines. If this is a wide review, are we going to be waiting years before they actually conduct their investigation?
Paul Calandra, who stepped into the role of housing minister after Steve Clark resigned the post on Monday in the wake of a scathing report from Ontario's integrity commissioner, will design the review along with a non-partisan provincial adjudicator, Ford said.
This seems to indicate a long road ahead if they are going to have to appoint an adjudicator and then start a design process. What happens to the lands for the interim? Are there injunctions on development? Are all lands being treated the same?
Lots of questions, not many answers.
