MODERATORS

I was going through some old things on Gopher recently and came across information about WideAreaInformationServers. The problem I am having is figuring out if there are any still in operation and if so, how you would access them in this day and age. If anyone has info on this topic, I would love to hear your thoughts.

WAIS is long gone. There are no more servers running having been ran primarily by the now defunct Thinking Machines (they made those big beautiful super computers with all the red lights like in Jurassic Park). There is an open implementation called OpenWAIS, but I can't remember if it includes a WAIS server.

Can you provide a link to this OpenWAIS project? I have not been able to find it myself. Thanks.

That's going to take some digging. If you search around on Gopher it's out there.
