I tried eyes of the tigers, the first on songsterr, well, I'm not ready yet. Total fail 🫠.

Im now going on game of throne's main thème.

After the introduce, here my asking.
What do you have in your bag, who can be "ez" and btw learn technics, chords (for fingers, brain will come later for me) ? πŸ€”

PS : almost forgot brother Jacob πŸ˜‚.
Ps2 : I'm playing on an electric, if that's important 🀘

On acoustic : wish you were here - pink Floyd Electric - rebel rebel - bowie

Im pretty sure my first one was Rape Me by Nirvana. Not the classic SLTS because the string changes were too much for me while learning power chords at the same time πŸ˜„

I feel u, πŸ˜…

I'm learning in same time power chords with palm mute, and not down stroke but the one when u go back and forth.

There is a lot of work omg ^^

Why do I like metal/rock etc XD.

Sounds great! I'd suggest to go for one thing at a time though. Doing muted power chords with alternate picking is tough to get right, even more advanced players don't do it very often (and I'd say I'm unable to do it very well neither). Most times, doing downstrokes only on palm mutes sounds way better as you'll always hear the pick direction, and you sacrifice a lot of punch when the power chords alternate in their quality.

That said, keep going! \m/

Yeah clearly.
I'm not going hard on the alternate, just few minutes then an then during my sessions.

No frustration bc I'm really bad at it.
I'm doing that BC of the pulp fiction's opening theme.

Ah alright! If you're aiming for the main melody though, those notes are not power chords. I'm sure you know this, but from your posting I drew the impression you were practicing alternate picking on palm muted power chords. ;)

Yeah exactly.

Sorry I'm not clear.

I started alternate picking because of pulp fiction. I can't do it obviously.
So I train it (Ap), not in power chords though.

For example, I do AP on the first "E" then power chord in palm mute.

If you forego the harmonics and don't mind changing the tuning to drop C (or C#, I don't recall off the top of my head) - "They Say" by Scars on Broadway is really easy (iirc, my first song I learned); although this will not teach you much in terms of technicalities and chords.

In general, if you can wrap your head around alternate picking, SoaD songs are relatively easy to learn and a banger to play (with some notable exceptions), although they will mostly teach you rhythm and speed, not much when it comes to chords

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

ah ah because of u, i learn that we can change the tone xD

ty mate :)

[–] Metju 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're welcome. Just remember to grab higher-gauge strings; for drop C I usually go for sth around 10-52, range (maybe even higher). Otherwise the strings will get loose, resulting in a buzz

by watching the strings of my Ibanez and your advice,
i will buy a little bag of ernies's strings and wait ;) I dont think i have the good ones (Ibanez GIO)

Or do u advise me others strings ?

Don’t remember what was the absolute first. Stuff I started with:

Radiohead: True love waits, fake plastic trees, how to disappear completely, nice dream, blow out, no surprises.

Pearl Jam: black, elderly woman, release, yellow ledbetter.

Some randoms: Metallica Nothing Else Matters, Blind melon No Rain, Cranberries Zombie, Acdc big balls, Adam Sandler lunch lady land and medium pace.

That’s what pops up in my memory. Good mix of picking and strumming in there. Nothing too hard or too boringly easy.

Good luck!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thats a nice list, thanks mate :)

I see the other dude got you changing your tuning. In that case go to drop D and try some Tool and Rage against the Machine. That should keep you busy!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I love them,
Ty.

Uhhh I think I just realized,
Don't laugh pls but if you can confirm or no ^^

When I'm on songster, that's the drop of the strings if I see : "DGCFAd" ??

🀣

I mean tune just the one string down from standard eadgbe to dadgbe.

Tried today 'killing in the name of' in drop D.
I'm not good but yeah I get it.

There is work to do πŸ˜ƒ

But the part "11,12,11,12/|", oh yeah that's good when u feel close to the original song.
Omg,

What an drug

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yes! Love it. While you’re there try playing Freedom. Feels good as you improve.
