Do you feel there is a difference in the philosophy fake alcoholic beverages? Some people have a problem with people in recovery drinking fake alcoholic beverages.

Personally, I don't see a problem.

By the way, the zero alcohol Guiness is, to me, indistinguishable from the poisoned version. You know, except for the life destroying consequences of drinking alcohol.

I am currently not trying to quit drinking (although I probably should). I enjoy alcohol free beer. Sometimes I want to drink a beer and I don't want any alcohol. As simple as that.

If someone is trying to overcome a bad drinking habit, I can imagine "fake alcohol" drinks can be a useful help. Use to drink beers everyday? Replace all of them by alcohol free ones, then when you are craving for a beer, you get one of those from your fridge and you avoid going out and get a alcoholic one.

I drank them more frequently the first few months I stopped. (Almost a year ago). I had a great ginger mocktail (real ginger!) for my birthday last October. Haven’t really had the urge since. I do keep a bottle of alcohol free wine at home for those wine and cheese nights out with friends.

I really like vinegars. If I want to make something nice I shake a fruit vinegar with lime and ice in a shaker and add soda.

When I had just quit, I couldn't drink alcohol free beers, it would trigger the same cravings. Now it's fine and I can enjoy a nice alcohol free IPA. And I can easily stick with one.
