Why would you post on named social media anymore, beyond trying to sell people something?

So your words and sentiments can be warped into a knife by others who get off on slitting your throat with it?

Having open expression of ideas requires allowing the open expression of ideas. At least here in America, our capitalist culture has made us punitive, negative, and hostile towards one another. We compete against each other rather than cooperate, and that extends to how we communicate. We brag about having free speech here, which refers to consequences by the state, but the social tax for saying the wrong thing or the right thing in the wrong way are staggering. Why talk at all if there's only one right answer on a topic everyone is supposed to regurgitate?

Being supported here is for rich people who can afford regular quality therapy. Social media is no replacement for that, yet is often treated as such.

At least platforms like this are relatively anonymous if you aren't completely careless in your setup. Ideas rise and fall on their own merits, not on the biases of who said them and whether you like or dislike the messenger.
