Our app is designed to be used across the Asia Pacific.

We have members who follow western naming conventions as well as members following common asian naming conventions.

Turns out there can be alot of variation on what is the convention.

I love any time naming in software comes up since it gives me a chance to drop this link: Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Names

Store a string (Unicode) make no other assumptions. Don’t pick for users.

I see no reason any usage of names can’t follow the same suggestions. A newspaper? Print the name the way they print it. Same with anything else.
