Sounds biblical!
Lemmy Scare You! A community for sharing short scary stories.
Inspired by r/nosleep, but without the "Everything here is true" and "You can't criticize the OP" rule. Post your scariest original short stories here.
Rules are simple:
- Be nice, criticize constructively, no name-calling.
- No obvious AI generated stories, or other spam.
- Everything posted here is creative fiction, any similarity to real life is pure coincidence.
- Prompts are allowed, but should be prefaced with "[WP]"
- Collaborative storytelling is fun, so if you'd like to continue your own story or other people's story as a series in the comments, start your comment with [CHAIN]
- Troll/Parody Stories would be allowed on Sundays, but the title should start with "[PARODY]"
Glad you caught the references! That indeed was the intentions here.
I think I just wanted to do something more experimental, and fully utilize Lemmy's markdown support for formatting.
Highly recommend the story "Hell is the Absence of God" by Ted Chiang, for which this story is a little bit inspired by.
It was written well! It was the part about "the 7th day he rested" where I got the reference. I love that Lemmy has markdown support! Can't wait to see your next post :)
Remember to tell your friends. Still trying to grow this place with original contents, so every bit helps.
Hi Margot, I'm glad I found this Lemmy original community. Great work growing it! It has much more subscribers than ones with the same name as subreddits (which would get more search traffic because of their names), so it's very impressive. You inspired me to try my hand at a story too!
Please post it here when you're done!
To leave reddit behind, we must build something new and pure in its place. And I want to do just that.
Sometimes I think about the idols people worship and follow.
They are built by their followers into something unrecognizable to their previous self, but do they really wanted to be there?
