Posibleng hindi nakita ni Pereyra ang itim na kable dahil madilim na. Sunod nito, isang motorsiklo rin na kasunod ni Pereyra ang bumangga sa kaniya. Dinala ang mga biktima sa ospital ngunit idineklarang dead on arrival si Pereyra, samantalang sugatan ang kasunod na rider na si Francis Chavez.
