The reason he thinks cis must be a slur is that he definitely thinks trans is a slur.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Even if that were the case, let's be honest. He will never enforce the rule to protect trans people from it

Truly don't understand how anyone sane goes within 10ft of that platform.

I somehow understand people who still have a community over there, but ultimately these people should realize that them staying over there will convince others to stay too and ultimately that may end up hurting all of them.

Free speech until Ellies feelings get hurt :,(

The fact that anti-trans groups are trying to remove the ability for trans-people to describe non trans people on an equal footing is pretty fucking insane.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I agree. Unfortunately it makes perfect sense insofar as they want to outlaw anything that trans people do and are.

Reminds me of when unlikely hub of transphobia Mumsnet which has partially driven the huge amount of transphobia both in the government and society (JK Rowling) said "we're not transphobic, actually" then in the same post said the word "cis" was banned.

Cis definitely isn't a slur, but repeatedly DMing people and calling them "cissy" and saying "you can't change who you are" or whatever is 100% harassment.

I get that it's supposed to be a mirror of people's treatment of trans people, and that makes sense, but then being upset that it's called harassment seems silly when that's exactly what it is. Not to say that it's comparable to transphobia or any other type of more serious harassment though, because it's really not.

Elon Musk sucks but he isn't (yet) saying that just saying that someone is cis is inherently harassment. I won't be surprised if he immediately follows it up with that though, because that's the way these things tend to go.

Musk said verbatim:

The words “cis” or “cisgender” are considered slurs on this platform.

So yes, simply using those words is now grounds for being banned from Twitter as far as Musk is concerned. So whatever you consider "harassment" or not, is irrelevant.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Except Twitter is a hellsite that doesn't ban people for using slurs

Theyre such snowflakes now they have to police and protect their gender identities which they also dont understand nor acknowledge. Love it.
