Man vs author is my least favourite
Same, i hate both active visible author and 4th wall breaking.
I don’t think I’ve ever encountered this conflict before.
I have in a piece of Helluva Boss fanfiction I can't remember the name of. I found it funny at first, but it quickly got old
Now that I think about it, the movie Stranger than Fiction might fit into that type of conflict but even then I’m not sure.
woman vs woman (they secretly love each other)
woman vs woman slow burn enemies to lovers
yessss
It isn’t listed here, but the Man vs Destiny trope was always interesting I’ve found.
Also Man/Society vs Creation is a fun trope, especially with AI or intelligent machines. Though it can be seen earlier with Frankenstein for example.
In the Nightrunner series of books, I really liked how Seregil didn't allow himself to initiate a relationship with Alec despite his student's clear interest. He wanted to make sure that Alec had freedom and was worried about the messed up power dynamic that might be created. Also all his previous lovers had either died because of him or betrayed him. It created a dynamic where Seregil always had Alec's best interest but was also flipping between being distant and intimate. When Alec ultimatley initiates the relationship, it was the happiest I've ever been when reading a book.
So I guess my favorite is internal conflict preventing romance for justifiable reasons.
