Canadian here - all the way over on the west coast in Vancouver. The air is yellow with smoke as the province and a lot of northwestern Canada burns down, but things could be worse.

I'm in Portland, Oregon and we've been getting a lot of your smoke the last week. It got pretty bad, though I'm sure nothing like what you're dealing with.

I have been there! I did some of the most amazing diving on the islands, had a great time there overall.
Can I ask you about the gay kiss thing? To me it seemed like a really bad idea for him to do, pda isn't okay generally there and it's well known how the government feel about gay men especially. He's not even gay which makes me feel a bit differently about it, not sure whether it should though.
What do you think about it?

It is definitely a bit scary, I'm feeling it less in the UK as a gay guy but it's picking up here too along with the anti trans aggression. I work for an lgbt+ organisation and we're having to keep taking steps to protect ourselves, can't imagine what it must be like for some people over your way
