I've seen what I think are pseudo engagement bait type posts, but I'm a little confused why that's happening here.

There's no incentive to have big karma accounts to sell on Lemmy, is there?

There's no incentive for karma, but people might be trying to boost communities that aren't getting too many new posts naturally just yet. With discoverability still being an issue on Lemmy, a new post is the fastest way of making sure people see a community exists.

And to keep new people engaged. If someone signes up and there is barely any content to scroll throgh, they go right back to reddit and lemmy will never take off.
