Is Scott Pilgrim an anime?

It's being animated by Science Saru (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken, Ping Pong The Animation, etc...), so I would say it is.

I mean Wickie and Heidi the old german tv shows where produced in japan so they count as anime

Wouldn't that make a lot of western cartoons anime too since good chunks of them tend to be outsourced to eastern studios? I believe TAWOG was done in south korea

Done by a Japanese studio but produced by Westerners. So I don't see it in MAL. But I'm looking forward to excellent Scott Pilgrim vs. Za Warudo edits.

Would be hilarious if this replaces King of the Hill in subbed (English) vs. dubbed (Japanese) debates.

Many of the cast is from the 2011 movie, very excited!

Yes finally! We can get a better retelling of the story Bryan Lee O’Malley crafted without putting it into a boss rush setup like the movie did

oh nice, I'll definitely give it a look

So it looks pretty much like the same story from the movie, even has the same cast (doing voice over instead of acting).

So... why?

Because the movie was essentially boss rush mode of several volumes worth of content that the movie skipped entirely
