My name is Commander Shepard and this is my favorite Mass Effect community on the citadel.

Rules & Regs:

Don't be a dick, unless it's a really spicy renegade interrupt. But even then, seriously, don't be a dick.
Memes are great - seriously, I need more Mass Effect sh!tposting in my life.
This is a welcoming community for all stripes, let's just remember there's people on the other side of the screen and act accordingly.

I hope to welcome all Rexxitors from r/masseffect, though this is not in any official way associated with them. Still, they're great, and Mass Effect is great, so I hope all Reddit orphans can find a cozy place here to talk about whether or not Leviathan of Dis is going to pull some shady ish.

I guess being on the Fediverse it’s more inviting to share random thoughts.

I started playing NES around the early 90s, then through PC gaming and PS1 before stopping for university. I had a brief stint with Xbox and PSP but never really gamed for the last fifteen years. Anyways, now as a father and with a purchase of a Steamdeck I tried out ME Legendary.

Just finished ME2.

I really enjoyed my time so far. I had played Knights of the Old Republic but ME2 seemed like the evolution of that game—better characters, cinematic plot, really interesting gameplay.

Anyways this is just a note that I enjoyed learning about the magic of this game and why it was such a fuss some 10+ years ago. I never experienced it the first time but there is a tinge of nostalgia with being re-exposed to games that might have formed my childhood.

I’ve heard the criticism of ME3 but I guess there is a better experience now with the DLC ending.

The citidel DLC does not replace the ending. Well, not officially there is a mod that will do that.

I would advise not starting the Citidel DLC until after Priority:Thesia. That way you will have the most fun.

The ending DLC does expand the ME3 ending a bit. I played the original ending and can understand its criticisms, but the expanded ending is a bit better.

Either way, don’t let other people’s cries about the last 10 minutes of the game put you off from the incredible experience that is Mass Effect 3.

I wish I could play the trilogy for the first time again. ME2 is something special, and ME3 with all DLC is a beautiful cinematic capstone to the entire experience.

I really enjoy the classic Bioware games (KOTOR, ~~Jade Empire~~¹, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, and Mass Effect 2) and I wish more studios took the Bioware formula, where you visit a few distinct semi-open locations with a bunch of interesting followers, and made games using it. I guess Spiders (Mars: War Logs, Technomancer, Greedfall) are kinda close, but their games are still missing something.
