I absolutely hate that we get Midges, Gnats and Mosquitos in the UK these days, it was mostly judge Midges when I was a kid, although you'd see a rare Gnat and Mosquitos were unheard of.

There are way more mosquitos now, never used to be a problem in the past. Awful things!

Yeah, we get a lot of the black/white legged ones, which are the ones that carry Dengue and Malaria AIUI

Well that's just awful, didn't realise we had those here

The problem with judge midges is, there's no reasoning with them... they're judge, jury and executioner (of bites)

Last year, after going to Finland for about 13 years exclusively in the autumn / winter, I ended up playing at a summer festival. I saw my first Finnish mosquito not long out of the airport and laughed at how spindly and uncoordinated it was.

My friends said "we'll see if you still find them funny by the time you leave" and OH MY DAYS fuck Finnish mosquitos I literally have scars on my legs a year later. Bites went like cigarette burns.

Scottish midges are something else and mega second generation does not sound good. Let's hope they never move further south.
