There were too many guitar players around, I liked the way it sounded, that's about it. I ended playing in a crappy death metal band at 17, good memories.

I‘ve yet to find a genre that isn‘t in dire need of more bassists. I personally know quite a few bands who’s bass players are secretly guitarists in disguise!

Most of my friends played guitar and my dad played when he was younger.

I could tell you, but it depends on if you're allergic to cheese! XD

It was cheap, mainly. Which is also why all my basses are Harley Bentons.

So you‘re satisfied with the brand? My experience with HB wasn‘t the best sadly. I used to own a multiscale 7 string HB which they had to replace, because the first one was in such an unplayable condition that even I who considers himself quite savvy in terms of fixing stuff was unable to make it work. The replacement, while also a lemon with flaws in the finish, misaligned saddles and chips in the neck, was at least fixable to a playable degree. But I‘m glad to see others had a better experience!

I guess satisfied mostly because I don't really know any other brands, so I don't have a comparison to go off of. But for the most part, I like them just fine.
