Good. It also works for making garlic bread. Doesn't take much.
Grilled Cheese
Grilled Cheese.
I tried it but I prefer butter.
But what if I add some bacon, or ham, maybe some brisket?
😈
THEN ITS A FLIPPING MELT
😜
Bacon really makes for a great sandwich if you want a little something extra.
I'm going to try this later today, this type of experimentalism is what I was lacking in my life :P
So, how did it go? Science needs data.
Also good. Heat up a cast iron skillet, use a teensy bit of butter to grease the pan, put a little bit of mayo on the outside of the bread slices, and you’ll end up with grilled cheese perfection.
In my experience, Mayo on grilled cheese is mostly for looks. I only use butter
It's okay. I grew up eating grilled cheeses with mayo on the outside of the bread. Once I tried butter, i never went back.
I've tried this as well - I still prefer butter, but I can see why some people might like mayo better. I think the salt content in the butter is what makes the difference for me, maybe I could try salting the mayo to get the best of both worlds.
I'm a big advocate of the hybrid approach: mayo on the bread, butter to grease the pan. The mayo adds a crisp (not crunchy) texture and browns wonderfully, but is helped by the flavor of the butter.
Some butter on the inside of the bread is also great.
It's not the best thing ever, but it's pretty damn good.
I like to mix in some dried herbs into the mayo, then smear it on. It gets the herbs all toasty and delicious.
I go with mayo on the bread, butter in the pan.
But maybe that's my impatience involving the desire for grilled cheese?
