A place for gardening and plant pics

I was removing weeds from between the tiles in my garden and found what looks like basil. In autumn I usually let by basil flower before the first frost kills it. I think one of the seeds survived the winter. I didn't know basil seeds were so resilient. I let this one live (until I turn it into pesto).
Lucky for them, basil does not do that well in my backyard
Basil is pretty resilient, but I've never had volunteers from the previous year.
My biggest volunteers are usually tomatoes, although last year, my neighbor had pole beans that went wild, got up into a tree, grew up over my beds, and dropped beans all winter, so this spring, while tomatoes are definitely my most pulled weed, now pole beans are in second place.
Also had one volunteer nasturtium that grew exactly where I had one plant last year, so I'm happy to have it there again this year!
Amazing! I have a walkway with carrots popping up between bricks. They do not taste or look good like this basil!
A volunteer! Basil is a hearty grower in my area as well, but I have never seen it come through concrete!
