I honestly think that China (along with several other nations) is past the point of no return in regards population decline.

Immigration is the one stopgap several nations have used but this is not really an option for China as it has the one of the lowest immigration rates in the world (IIRC 0.01% of the population are immigrants).

I don’t think it’s past the point of no return, but certain stakeholders are just incapable of shifting gears while China still have a considerable amount of youths left

I can think of no country that has reversed course once the decline started.

I do not see China (or any country) changing that in less than a generation.

The guy who wrote this stuff, also wrote about some countries that managed to reverse their fertility rate declines, so while the population will decline, I don’t think it’s hopeless for countries to start reversing the damage.

But China? Yeah, they are screwed
