Gels by hold level ๐Ÿ˜ with visuals.

Here's a round up of some of the gels I have used and gotten great wash days from, categorised according to hold. Hopefully this will be helpful if you're considering investing in a gel and you're not sure where to start.

I have made hold level judgements based both on how wash days held, and how I had to refresh following wash day. It's worth noting, though, that some of the lightest hold products here have given me amazing wash days, so I dont always go for super hard hold. My choice often depends on the weather and when I'm next able to wash.

Yes - I have a LOT of gels. No - I've never used them all at once ๐Ÿคฃ nor do I intend too. The hold levels are also based off my personal experience with these gels. Individual experiences will obviously vary.

What's your favourite gel? Do you prefer light, medium or hard hold? โค

Wow. The original Climate Control gel is very light hold on my hair. Like almost no hold at all. Her Climate Control Extreme gel is medium hold on me and I like medium hold best, because light does nothing and hard hold I can't distribute well enough without using too much. Medium I can use enough to cover all the hair and not gunk it up too much.

Hard hold I would say are LA Looks blue gel, Biosilk rock hard gel, that level of hold. All of those in your hard hold list I would say have light to medium hold.

The only product I tried on this list is the ouidad advanced climate gel white bottle, it gives me medium hold. Works good enough for me but I have not tried the red bottle which is supposed to be a strong hold. Everyone's hair is different though, like for me I do not have thick hair so I do not need a hard hold. I am a product junkie but I could not afford to test out all these products welshiecurlgirl used lol.

Yeah, my hair is medium density but so coarse that it's thick overall. It likes to be weighed down. But if your hair is fine & has good memory the Innersense I Create Hold might be a good one to try too. I love their Hydrating Cream Conditioner & my fine/low density curly daughter loves the shampoo from that same line (hydrating hair bath). But she likes harder hold gel than I do.

The white bottle Ouidad gel did work when my stylist used it but she used so much and only rake & shake no scrunching. Hood dryer while she did another haircut then finish with diffuser. I can't style it like that myself.
