Up until Friday it was Wildcat's Revenge for me and it 100% lives up to the hype!
RollerCoasters
A place to talk about roller coasters and parks that have them. Everyone is welcome here to both learn and to celebrate these magnificent machines designed to scare you.
Here are some important resources:
Images are welcome if they are of high quality and it doesn't get out of hand. Please use PostImages to upload your image and then use that link in the URL field of your post (other image sites are permitted but Post Images has the best policies and compatibility).
Some basic rules:
-
Opinions, theories, and facts are all welcome – but be clear about what you’re saying.
-
Back up facts with sources as much as possible
-
No spam or sell-promotion. Linking to your own media or site is permissible only if it’s specifically related to a topic/post that someone else created.
-
No photos or videos taken on the rides. This is dangerous and shouldn't be encouraged.
-
Limit political discussion. When discussed it must be park related.
-
No fictional coasters (models, no limits, planet coaster, etc)
-
No posting personal information.
-
No shaming of anyone. We all can continue to learn and not everyone knows everything -- and that's ok.
I can't wait to get on that thing. I miss Wildcat but Joe Draves is my favorite designer so I'm still hyped. Crazy that it's at my home park and I still haven't got there this season.
I’m trying to lose enough to get the Hollywood Dream credit when I go back to USJ this fall. I missed it earlier this year but was able to ride everything else. Those dang B&M hyper seats are not forgiving.
Good luck! On the plus side those are as comfortable as it gets for seats/restraints once you do fit.
I’ve been on other hypers just fine, I’m not too fond of them personally. Never really liked any b&m seat.
I find the B&M hypers very comfortable personally but their horse collars kill their rides (honestly I think they are comparable to Arrow trains, just not as aged). Their vest restraints are one of the better moves they've made for inverting coasters though (compareale to Vekoma MK1212 trains IMHO)
Good luck! I've lost a lot of weight twice in the past and it's incredibly difficult but feels so much better on the other side.
I'm really hoping I can get up to SFDK and ride V2 now that it reopened. For personal reasons I can't travel anywhere besides my two home parks and I haven't been on V2 since February 2020.
V2 is the impulse that they got in trouble because of height restrictions and had to make the one spike "sideways" right? Maybe I'm thinking of another one.
In September I'm going on holiday to Singapore with friends so we'll be visiting Universal Studios Singapore while we're there. I think its the smallest of the Universal parks, but it'll be my first so I'm really looking forward to it!
If it's anything like Orlando you're in for a treat. UOR is my happy place (despite the neighbor trying to steal that type of marketing thunder 😂)
Finally booked a time to ride the EJ Hill coaster at MassMOCA.
How'd you score that? Def let us know how it is after you ride it.
Finally getting on Pantheon was what I was most looking forward to this season. I think it's a better ride than Velocicoaster disregarding theming. Unfortunately the operations were pretty bad when I was there, either slow two-train ops, or agonizing one-train ops
I liked Pantheon but..... I dunno. I think it was the agonizing ops, the fact that I had visited 3 times prior without being able to ride (one of those was a ticket given to me by BGW specifically so I could ride Pantheon), and the over-hype that knocked it down a bit. It's really hard for me to see it being above VelociCoaster though..... but if you pull VC out of it's enviornment I'm not sure I'd have the same feeling.
Don't get me wrong.... Pantheon is absolutely the best in the park (Verbolten is closely second) for me.... I did very much enjoy it.... I just felt like it could have been more with just a little more effort.
also El Toro reopening
Coaster season? Do they change or do they give discounts or what?
For those not close to the equator they..... Well, they're just open 😉
OHHHHHH
yeah i forgot you guys not at the equator have seasons where the world freezes over :D
I am going to Carowinds on July 7th! I'm most excited for Fury 325 and Copperhead Strike! Icon is my number one coaster behind Tatsu so Mack and B&M will likely be fighting for my top two, even still!
Honestly my goal for this year is just to actually get on a rollercoaster, and it's not looking like even that will happen!
Wish we lived somewhere with better access, but it is what it is. Next year, baby.
What region are you in if you don't mind me asking? I know there are parts of the US that have a severe lack of coasters and I'm sure other countries have the same.
I'm North East England, so there are a few places we could visit (although no easy new credits). But the parks are getting pretty expensive here (transport even more so) and given that we just got married and went to Eurovision it's hard to justify. You know how it is!
Hoping to start venturing across into more European parks from next year though. Sadly it's no longer quite so easy these days.
Certainly.... I haven't quite hit that point here but I have already cut some specific parks out of normal plans because of unjustified costs and I am also no longer that person who just automatically clicks renew on season passes each year with the prices going up all over the place. As for getting to parks I am lucky to be in a region where I have lots of parks that aren't right by me but easy to do in a day so I consider that a huge blessing.
