Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

I am having a margarita, wish it was to wrap up the week, but alas I must work tomorrow.

It's a booze holiday weekend, it seems, as Purim began Thursday night. I wanted something other than the deluge of wine that usually accompanies the holiday, and I wanted to try out this bottle of Creme de Violette that I grabbed, so I made a cocktail a friend found online called the Liberation. The name seemed fitting for the occasion, but I'm pretty sure it was AI generated crap, so I played around with it until it to my liking.

The Liberation

1.5 oz Gin
0.5 oz Elderflower Liquor
0.5 oz Creme de Violette
0.5 oz Lemon Juice

Garnish with a charred lemon twist.

Still think it needs a little work, so I'd love some suggestions or other, more tested cocktails to try with the Creme de Violette.

Also, it's been just on the brink of being warm enough to go out on the deck in the evenings, so I've been making coffee and amaretto to help prolong the time it feels comfortable to be outside. Sort of a cocktail...

Having some tepache today. So delicious, and an easy entry level fermentation project. I've made this dozens of times and it's failed only once.
