Do you spin it yourselves too? My wife is a spinner, but she hates cotton because of how short the fibers are compared to animal hair. When she does it, she has a charkha for it, but she rarely uses it.

Ah - the video is not mine, my girlfriend recently planted three cotton plants and so we've been watching videos about cotton. And I thought that this video was very cool and I wanted to share it.
Currently we live in a small apartment and - if the plants make it through adulthood indoors - which I'm not so hopeful about - then we will experiment with the processing of the cotton at super small scale. Eventually it is our dream that after we're done with our studies we can live outside of a city, somewhere where we can have enough outdoor space to grow plants at a more practically useful scale. Growing enough cotton to make even some simple pieces of clothing or towels is one of our "quests". So we're preparing :-)
Good luck with the trials. I can understand the appeal of growing cotton for fiber use. I hope you don't find it as annoying as my wife does. She sticks to wool and alpaca these days. She's not allowed to get a sheep or an alpaca though. :D
Oh, I would choose wool over cotton. It just sounds like a lot more work to keep sheep than to grow cotton plants! But I did learn how to knit very simple things last year, and 100% wool is the spool material that I liked the most.
