Bees?

A community for learning about bees, most of the content is toward honey bees. But all little buzzers shoild be noted beacuse the honey bee varieties are not the only import bees. Well I guess wasps too, but yellow jackets are already on thin ice. Bee decent and kind, I want this community to increase the number of people that care about our A plus polinators and by extension the enviroment we all share. I know only a little about bees but I always am open to learning more!

My bee journey will not start till next year(signed up for two queens and 2kg of bees), which is meh but also will give me time to prep the area and build/buy proper equitment. I just wanted to ask for input from anyone with experince in bee keeping and being... not flush with cash. As the title indicates I am somewhat handy at woodworking, I was wondering if it is worth/advized building my own hives from scatch. I enjoy the idea of having a veiwing port in the hive that can be covered when I am done creeping on the colony activity. I am sure I am not the first to build their own colony, links to good build guilds would be wonderful too.

Ps. Am I the only one who finds the measurement of worker bees weirdly hilarious, buying 1kg of bees at a time haha

I posted this beefore doing any searching, and found this webside (https://www.osbeehives.com), they have a open source design file for there beehives they make and there bee monitor. Neat thing is you can download source build for any price, pay what you think, 0$-beelions. edit: website/company deosnt seem to be working anymore but they left file on github https://github.com/opensourcebeehives/BuzzBoard.
