Mr. Block is a comic from the early 1900s following someone that might seem eerily familiar, named Mr. Block. This comic was created by Ernest Riebe for the still running International Worker, a newspaper published by the Industrial Workers of the World. The IWW is an international syndicalist union who believe workers run the world. They have existed since 1909, with famous organizers like Mother Jones as founding members. While this community is focused on Mr. Block, all IWW comics are welcome!

TranscriptPanel 1:

Mr. Block: The Industrial Worker from Spokane claims that the newspapers are robbing the poor people with swindle advertisements. It may be that some of the papers are doing it, but this here paper is honest. It must be, because it is very popular, everybody is reading it. I just got two dollars left and I am going to invest 'em.

Panel 2:

Phoenix Sign Co clerk: Here Mr Block, fifty painted signs for two dollars. You can sell them at $0.25 a piece, this will give you a profit of $10. You can sell them in one hour.

Panel 3:

Lady: I am sorry my poor man but I can buy no more signs. There are too many of you canvassers around here.

Panel 4:

Man: I guess I have to kill some of you sign peddlers. I chased away twenty already!

Panel 5:

Mr. Block: I want my money back!

Phoenix Sign Co clerk: Can't sell 'em? Well that's your fault! You got no business ability!

Phoenix Sign Co boss: Get out of here!

Panel 6:

Mr. Block outside, crying on the sidewalk

Phoenix Sign Co boss: And don't you slobber all over the sidewalk, I'll have you arrested.
