So this has been bouncing around my head a few days. Inter fans are very angry at Lukaku at the moment for having discussions with Juventus about a potential move. And to a degree, I understand that. He is a player they supported in tough times talking to a rival.

What I don't get is how Pirlo played for Milan, Inter AND Juventus, and is a much beloved player. In fact there is a whole list of players who have done this, Zlatan, Baggio, Cannavaro and Vieri to just name a few noticeable ones. I always hear about how transfers between rivals are just a bit different and more common in Italy than the Premier League, so what gives here? Why is Lukaku a snake but those other players are Italian legends?

No no, it's not about nationality.

The problem is that Inter spent a great deal of time, financial planning and strategy work to devise a way to buy Lukaku and ensure him a top tier salary.

Keeping also in mind that his last season was lackluster to say the least and that the main reason they were doing this extra mile for him was that he always displayed a strong desire to be part of the team.

And then when finally they found a way to make it work, he was not picking up the phone anymore and showing by also waiting for Juventus'answer that all he said was just pretty much lies. The management got really angry, I've never seen such reaction before, I suspect that they really felt insulted far beyond the standard business/trading play between parts.

That actually clears it up a lot for me, thanks. So it's less about it being Juve and more about his actions and him toying with their plans.

Exactly, he was/is actually closer to signing with some Arab team than Juve.

But for Inter fans Juve is more outrageous and journalists preferred that angle for selling the news.

Aside from what @[email protected] said, these are different times. Serie A is much more brutal now with more competition and the continued dominance of PL as the super money league. Every club wants the best for themselves unlike how it was during late 80s/90s or early 00s where an overflowing amount of talent was in Serie A.

May be the others are Italian?

Zlatan isn’t Italian; Italians are Zlatan.

I didn't consider that and if you look at the list a lot of them are indeed Italian. There are some notable ones who aren't Italian though, like Zlatan, Patrick Viera, Edgar Davids, Brazilian Ronaldo and Seedorf.

because they won or almost won a world cup for italy? also i dont think they dance around and literally reject their old club unlike Lukaku. Most of the case are that they are being sold to rivals instead of forcing a move or reject their old club to join the other
