I can’t wait to read it, but also Halo Studios writing any story after the events of Infinite challenge, Difficulty: Impossible

What are the best books to get initiated I this universe?

Assume only the game lore is known.

It can be daunting because this is novel #33 in the series, not counting novellas and short story compilations.

I’d always recommend The Fall of Reach, it is the first novel and was a companion novel released around the same time as CE and gives you the background on the Spartan II program, their training, and eventually leads into the Fall of Reach from a perspective different from the game Halo Reach. The only complaint about TFoR is it can be dry military fiction at times, but it is a great intro into Halo’s EU.

Contact Harvest is another good one, it is about the very first encounter with the covenant ~30 years before the events of Halo CE.

A majority of the books are their own standalone trilogies, you don’t necessarily need to read all of the books before any given book outside of the ones in its respective trilogy if there is one, but there are definitely characters and storylines that have managed to carry across multiple books and trilogies.

Check out the list of novels in the sidebar, they are organized by trilogy.
