If you are a top 15 QB and up for renewal, it will probably be a record contract. That's sort of how it works in pro sports. There's way more risk in getting worse than better.

It would be more than ridiculous, he's so much worse than Prescott
Everybody's always saying, "it's up to the market, this is just how much a QB costs," but not all QBs get the same contract. How does "the market" determine who gets paid what? I mean, shouldn't the best QB get paid the most? I think that makes sense. I also think most people would agree that Patrick Mahomes is the best QB in the league, but he's not the highest paid. In fact, he's not even in the top ten, last time I checked. This shit doesn't make any sense. Fuck "the market," if you're paying Dak Prescott or Brock Purdy more than Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes, you're an idiot. And because the shit for brains Dallas Cowboys were stupid enough to pay Dak fucking Prescott $60 million a year, all the others teams with mid level QBs have to do the same? THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE!
Mahomes signed in 2020 for 22.7% of the salary cap based on average value. Dak signed for a projected 22.6% of the 2025 cap. The highest paid QB is just the most recent one to sign a contract.
