snac is fun. I like GoToSocial in that its just a mastodon backend. Its a little more "heavy weight" than snac2 but its super easy to compile and run. At least on bare metal https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/getting_started/installation/metal/

I was also made aware of "bloat" a mastodon front-end, but I couldn't get it to work with links2.

Very true! I use toot tui to work in the terminal with mastodon, but its not a good links2 alternative.

links2 will work (somewhat) with GoToSocial. Thanks for the links, thats cool!

Now I just need to find something for lemmy/lemmy style sites...

not sure if it will work with from an external instance, but lemmy.sdf.org has a links2 compatible front-end at https://old.lemmy.sdf.org/

Just wanted to come back to tell you, I am now self hosting my own bloat pulled directly from git. Thanks for the link! If I come up with any improvements/bug fixes ill try contributing back. Appreciate it!
