The author, X. Dorison makes good stuff: "Sentinelles", where WW1 soldiers are augmented with machines.
(Please note that the series is marked as "Abandoned", but if I remember correctly, 4 tomes were enough!)
“BD” refers to Franco-Belgian comics, but let's open things up to include ALL Euro comics and GN's. Euro-style work from around the world is also welcome!

Huh, that sounds pretty wild(!)
Dorison's scripted a bunch of series, and specifically I like his work on Undertaker, Thorgal, and my favorite of all, the incredible Swan Song, also set in WWI.
