Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

Finally. They talked about this since the dawn of electric cars and I think its something all companies better get going. It allowed for many models to be built on the same chassis and opens up so many other designs because of the additional space. Should lower prices if it all works out.

For anyone else confused, this is not a safer electric skateboard.

This is a chassis, battery, wheels (with integrated motors/drivetrains?) all in a safer, impact absorbing chassis. EV manufacturers can purchase this "skateboard" and build out various vehicles on the platform.

The video showed a prototype model’s front impact at 120 km/h (about 75 mph) without exploding or catching fire.

Such a high bar of safety. It didn't explode!

Pretty sure there's been lots of high speed EV collisions where they haven't exploded before.

Plenty of electric cars have crashed at higher speeds without catching fire. What CATL is doing is pure marketing nonsense.
