This is the correct answer, with a 'but'. Eventually you will try Obsidian, which is closed source (add-ons are open), and find it compelling.

This is a good idea and I've been wanting to suggest it for Markor, which I generally like. On a full sized computer I use Org mode with git and that works well.

Check Zettel notes. It syncs with git repositories. It has many plugins, if you need one and actively developed.

There is also F-droid repo available.
