It’s not face recognition that’s “threatening“ this. It’s profiteering corporate overlord assholes. Put the blame where it belongs.

Considering you already need a smartphone, this sounds like more of a lateral step.

This is worse because it's taking your biometric data. You can change phones but you can't change your face as easily. You better believe these companies that take your facial information will then sell it off from AI companies to law enforcement and foreign governments.
