Jesus is this some big break thru or is it common for the 3 biggest players of an industry to throw 150 million dollars at a start up?

I wouldn't say it is common, but it's not unheard of (in hardware or software).

Although I guess they do see a lot of potential for this in the data centre with interconnects constantly being in the news as of late.
