Why is Firefox so big? (self.degoogle)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by Unknown1234_5 to c/[email protected]

I recently switched from Vivaldi to Firefox bc chromium. I've since realized that the tabs, address bar, and bookmarks bar are like twice the size of other browsers. I've tried a couple Firefox based browsers and they all do the same. How can I make Firefox a normal size so I can actually see what I'm doing?

Edit: found out how to restore the old compact option. Search about:config in the address bar, then search "compact" and enable "browser.compactmode.show", then right-click a toolbar element, select "customize toolbar", and select compact from the density menu.

The only options in density are default and touch, which is even bigger.

Do you not see Compact as an option?

Because it is being phased out.

It being phased out doesn't change the fact that I can see it on 131.0.3.

In the normal UI editor compact is no longer available ny default. They removed it because so few people were using it, sadly I'm one of those who did (and they likely didn't know I use it, as I disabled telemetry)

Strange. I don't use it, but I didn't go out of my way to add it as an option.

It wasn't there until I messed with about:config, from what I've seen they stopped supporting it and hid it a while ago for no apparent reason.

Wild. I've messed with about:config a bit, but not for this purpose.

Check the about:config settings

Edit: nvmd you already did it
